Yes WDC price has fallen sharply.

But I don't know f it's the reason for the apparent stalling in merger talks with WDC (witch have never been confirmed).

Analysts don't seems to be very well informed on this deal.

They speculate as the worst HC 4DS thread poster, imo.

My opinion is that the better deal is to make a spinoff from part of WDC and part of Kioxia and merge them in a knew independent entity capitalized with Micron money.

But it might prove unrealistic.

If we remain in classical consolidation, I think the pivot is not Kioxia, it's WDC.

WDC could merge with Micron.

That will leave Kioxia as the smaller among semiconductor giants, once Global Foundries is bought by someone else.
In this situation, I don't see Kioxia flying for a long time. It will be bought by SK Hynix witch already own a stake via the Bain Consortium. Or by someone else.

Kioxia has nowhere to go. The choice is between a merger of equals with WDC or being eaten some of the big ones (Imo).

But there is a total secrecy on all this.
Witch is strange knowing the number of people that are supposed to be involved in a merger.

So, I will not say that the storage industry consolidation is on the back burner.

Too much is at stake for WDC and Kioxia. They both want to have a futur and to get rid of the Bain Capital consortium.

But as # said this is probably a dynamic situation with many possibilities and many conflicting interests.

Imo, we will see some moves in November.

My bet : WDC will be bought, not Kioxia.
