It is using maths for sake doing a calculation rather than analysing and understanding the commercial aspects.
1. SP007 yesterday just did mathematical calculation on Moonshine comments on Friday‘s US market performance and says he can’t see downside protection .
2. lost and SP007 jumping to conclusion that MFG bad performance for one year is the norm, ignoring previous or post Covid performance. Then comparing it to GQG performance over last 3 to 4 years when stimulus and monetary policy played a big part in the world economy. When the downside comes around all these debt pile up comes into play, it is always the emerging market which suffer most through currency movements. What technology have they got to sell other than cheap labour. MFG portfolio is better equipped for this scenario than GQG, of course they will be effected too.
3. lost quoting PE ratios just on the face value of the numbers, implying UBS 8.5 against MFG PE ratio doesn’t make sense. I like to know what it’s wrong with it?
4. MFG net profit FY 2021 was $454m prior to associate losses. Now the assumption is no losses In associates, but profit of $20M in his own numbers. FY 2022 FUM is 114B now, compared to last year average of A103B. Simple maths says next year’s profit will be over A$500 to 520M. That is EPS of $2.75. Obviously at this moment market is not valuing at that price as MFG have to re-establish show these numbers on paper, starting with half year accounts.
