Magellan’s short-term underperformance is so acute that it has rendered it long-term. Its flagship Global Fund now lags its benchmark on a three and six-month basis, and on a one, three, five and seven-year basis. Only over a decade has Hamish’s strategy delivered his fund investors any alpha: a modest 36 basis points per annum.
No explanation has yet been provided for the strategy’s sickly start to fiscal 2022.
