Lithium batteries are falling in price every year. Soon they will be in wide use in a large number of households equipped with solar panels. If you look at the cost of batteries in EV's for example, you can clearly see where we are headed.

An EV battery is of course not a home battery but once the volume of production increases we will see a tipping point. At around a production cost of AU$100 per kWh of storage this will make them a clear winner.
