On spot market; Yep, as I said, sea of good news for PLS lately, don't think you'll be complaining, no, no complaints.
Only issue now on the horizon is cost of lithium pushing new tech to the fore more quickly, and EV demand stalling on rising cost of batteries. I believe that is a throwaway statement, heard in many times in recent past, so it might pay to take a closer look.
2 weeks back, Ken Hoffman of McKinsey presented a number of facts wrt EV supply chain. One of the topics covered related how cost of cathode active materials is impacting cost of battery packs. Their analysis estimated that pack cost have increased by $12/kwh. That being the case, cost of a mid to luxury EV with 75kwh pack increases $900, while a smaller mass market EV with 50kwh pack would see a $600 increase.
Now, the auto OEM may absorb that cutting 2% off there margin or they might pass it on to the consumer, or a bit of both. I don't know about you, but I never use cash to complete an outright purchase of a car, given they're a wasting asset. I understand that most consumers lease or take out a loan to purchase a vehicle, so a $900 or $600 spread over 4 years isn't going to break the bank.
