i guess it depends on your time period..

to me ..9mths is the seriously long term..

and ..i think if you look more closely..you will see that they actually were only similarly long in mid 2008...right near the highs..

..below it might be clearer..same chart with 'traders' positions..according to cftc data..and the actual gold price..

..pretty clear..they longest at peaks..least long at troughs?...ie ..it is a contrarian indicator...

as i said..just an indicator,.,BUT..given the track record..something to be aware of maybe??
