When the risks of commercial jet flying are effectively zero safety ratings are absolutely meaningless. So it should not even be a factor in choosing the airline..
Ironically sheer luck prevented QAN from having one of the worst safety records in the industry. Nobody was injured when QF17 had an engine explosion in 2010 or QF1 overshot the runway in 2000, Both incidents could have had massive fatalities.
