If the share price is still trending up despite intense shorting, then I reckon that isn't bad news (apologies for the double negative). Would have been happier if it hadn't been shorted and the price was higher. Of course it's possible they know something the whole rest of the market doesn't, but they have to buy 50m shares to realise any profit and that alone is a material amount of buying for this stock that would help lift/support the price in most scenarios.
