Average income is about $50k so if you are on $100k, you are doing really well.
This is about $2,000 a week before tax and $1,600 a week after tax. When you think how many people around the world live on a few dollars a day, then you should be happy on $1,600 a week. If you are not happy on that much, you are too greedy - find a cheaper house, work out the difference between wants and needs (some where to live is a need - a house in Mosman or Toorak is a want).
I used to work in a bank, so you know that lots of people around you are on $200k-$500k (and more for senior executives). If you are forever chasing those salaries you won't be happy. And at the end of the day, what's the difference between earning $100k and $200k? On $100k you have everything you need and most or all of what you want. The extra $100k a year will get you a bigger house in a more expensive suburb, a Beemer instead of a Toyota and maybe more frequent foreign holidays if that is your thing. It won't make your partner love you more (unless he/she is a money grabber), or your kids love you more or make the sand on the beach softer.
