I think management have performed well, but do they deserve bonuses for an underperforming share price?
I would structure FY2010 incentive for Cook as follows:
Share price of >$5 achcieved for at least a period of 30 consecutive days, bonus shares allocated to Cook 500,000.
Share price of >$10 achieved for at least a period of 30 consecutive days, additional bonus shares allocated to Cook 500,000.
The bonuses get reset each year so he doesn't automatically get short term incentives. Of course there could be a long term incentive thrown in the works... but short term incentives are just that, a little bit extra for rewarding shareholders.
Does Cook deserve to get the big bucks? I say Yes, but let's structure it in a way to maximise shareholder wealth... perhaps it would get him thinking about a NASDAQ liating...
I'll be at the AGM, is anyone else going? I plan to write in to ask about the NASDAQ listing, I hope others will too...
