Your thinking about it from a different view point. Think what the overall value of the company should be then do your math of how many issued shares into the MC. Then that indicates value and the sp could be anywhere so one gets a inkling of whether of not it is under valued or over or spot on. You would have noticed on different examples when more shares get issued and great drill results and the sp moves nowhere yet the MC has increased. Value has been added yet the shareholder is no better off although they now own a smaller piece of a more valuable company.
If you already know this I apologize now in preaching to the converted.
