Good point - I've been unemployed for about a year now. Fortunately, I do not have a mortgage and have reasonable savings. But if I did have a mortgage, banks probably would have forced me to sell by now and I would have been out on the street with my family and having to either rent or buy somewhere cheaper if there was enough money left.
Many people have unemployment thrust upon them and if you have a family and are mortgaged up or have little savings, it can be very hard going.
