Just sticking my head in - has anyone on this thread actually had any long term - say more than 2 years - sea time in a small - say up to 45 feet- yacht? Done any short handed stuff - say with wife and 3 kids? Been caught in a sudden weather change so you spend all night battened down in 60 knots plus? Surfed over a bar with the log on the stop? Caught the south east trades at the right time on a passage and spent all day at 10 knots plus with 6 sails up? Been solo in Bass Strait with 50 + dolphins off the bow at dawn?
And I'm not talking about harbour racing at the weekend or a full man crew with every electronic gadget know to man doing the Sydney Hobart.
Disclosure - hand is up. Any others?
By the way all the nay sayers should not go to bed - thousands of people die in bed everyday. Not safe obviously - same with the roads - death and carnage every day. Better stay home eh? Good on yer mate.
By the way there are two types of people who drink at sea. Fools and passengers.
