Wow there is some real ignorance about global warming on here. 40 years ago there was no debate - it has only become contentious since the energy factions (coal oil particularly) realised what was at stake.

Stuff we are putting in the atmosphere traps energy. Energy drives global weather patterns.
Stuff we are putting in the seas is heating and acidifying them killing algae which makes the atmosphere worse.

The worst of this stuff is Carbon dioxide CO2 and methane CH4 which comes from digging up and burning stuff.

ASM provides some of the materials needed to take advantage of the energy from the sun and wind. (Remember lesson #1 - it is energy that drives the winds)

I don't know how many times I have heard "oh 1 - 2 degrees change is nothing" however think about how much ENERGY it would take to heat the whole atmosphere and the seas by just a little - an enormous amount!
