PARIS, Sept 9 (Reuters) - European multinational missile systems company MBDA and U.S. group Boeing have signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate on regional and global ballistic missiles defence, the companies said on Thursday.

The pact creates a framework for the companies to share expertise while studying ways to defend against the threat posed by the next generation of ballistic missiles, they said.

MBDA has annual sales of over 2 billion euros and is owned by Britain's BAE Systems , Airbus owner EADS and Italy's Finmeccanica .

"Our relationship with MBDA is a critical component of our growing global missile defence partnerships," James Evatt, Boeing senior vice president of missile defence systems said in a statement. End of Story
