NEW YORK, Sept 9 (Reuters) - Young women's clothing retailer Charlotte Russe Holding Inc. said on Thursday slashed its fourth-quarter earnings and sales forecast after a disappointing back-to-school season.

The company said it expects low single-digit comparable store sales declines in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2004 and earnings per share of 11 cents to 13 cents. This compares to the previous guidance issued in July 15th of mid single-digit comparable sales increases and diluted EPS of 28 to 32 cents.

Analysts on average expected earnings of 29 cents per share, according to Reuters Research.
