Mayb nxt time someone speaks with JH, they could bring it to his attention that whilst in London, perhaps would b good idea to arrange booking up a meeting with Richard Branson, who is coming over to Perth in March 2010. IMO, couldn't b a better propaganda machine then an airlines owner on the lookout & willing to invest a few billion, on clean fuels. Note that synfuel was trialled on F-14/18's in the states, so wouldn't b difficult to trial it on commercial aircrafts. Would take someone willing to think outside the box to do this & who else better then Branson, who has already committed to invest in clean/renewable energy initiatives.

From memory, I think Liberty & Linc are doing it, since the latter has a commercial plant at Chinchilla & the former ~3.28 trillon tons of unmineable coal. Not sure about Cougar, yet.

CTP are in such a dilemma, i.e,

1) Exploit the CSG potential of the 1.175 TT coal resource, by drilling multiple wells & produce say 150-800 mcfd per well over 'X' no. of years to produce 'xx PJ energy' or

2) Burn the lot via UCG (CRIP i.e) & distill it to produce xx mmbbls of synfuel.

Either way they have the resource, matter of calling heads or tails.

Note, shareholders may want to read & draw JH's attention to Arrow energy's press release (15th April), where they've said similar things about producing xx bbls of clean fuel frm their large undrilled acreage in QLD. So this whole sector could become very interesting & onshore costs are much cheaper then offshore.

Meanwhile, the momentum in the UK seems to b shifting towards UCG et al.
