I'm afraid I'm not familiar with the method you use and I'm not sure if this is the way the pros do it but using the formula from the ASX booklet [Ft = St(1+(rt-dt))] and data for 8-Oct-09:
XJO Close (St) = 4768.6
Risk-free rate (rt) = 0.03755 (RBA figure)
XAO Div Yeild (dt) = 0.045 (CommSec)
I calculate the SPI Fair Value to be 4762. The SPI closed at 4771 on 8-Oct, a premium of 9 points, so market sentiment seems bullish.
