As logical as JoJo's arguments are, I still don't think it will be BHP.

For those of you who were caught up in or followed the Oz Minerals saga that started late last year, BHP was often touted as the 'logical' owner of the Oz's crown jewel, the Prominant Hill copper/gold mine in South Australia. Oz was on the ropes, and BHP could easily have won control, but they held fire.

I would also wonder if BHP would be trying to snap up junior miners while they have not yet managed to get their Pilbera IO deal with Rio ratified.
