Yeah, cost of producing raw materials will keep rising anyways, in that the cost of everything rises, or should rise in line with inflation, wages, etc. Therefore battery costs bottom is probably in from a raw material perspective, so that leaves economies of scale and more efficient production methods to do the job. Can the miners drop or flatline costs, could be done through cheaper energy (renewables), and of course low grade fines (higher recoveries) converted to midstream salt, shipping 400kt of salt as opposed to 1 mill tonnes of spod. Though, in the short to medium term, capital required and thus payback periods to meet those lower opex initiatives.

Thanks for sharing the info wrt your EV research, noting I like to look of the Ionic 5 as well, I'll jump into one of those in the next year or so, if I can get one. Plenty of models coming to market, just need backwater Oz better policy settings for mass adoption.

Coming from Scottish heritage, both sides of family, I'd still baulk at paying the extra $12k for the long range/fast charging model to become a tesla wanker.....
