It is annoying to see PNV manipulated. The Chairman and Board will be frustrated.
As I see it, ASIC, as well as all other similar regulators worldwide, are between a rock and a hard place.
ASIC will be very aware that the very prolific bot trading is done to control a share price. But what can they do? It is a world wide practice and condoned by very wealthy and influencial people. Even if some person or body, with LOTS of money, were to challenge ASIC, the defence would effectively be put forward and funded by the "manipulators" and the case would get nowhere. A strong line of defence would be "come on, you want Australia to differ any other stock exchange in the world?"
Any remediation to the current bad practices of share trading might need to be instigated on a global basis. Unfortunately global bodies are generally corrupt and in the hands of the influential wealthy.
There are two prime parties hurt by manipulative trading. Share holders, other than the manipulators, and the targeted companies. Consider the problem a fledgling company would have when faced with the issue of having to use it's market capitalisation as security. The real value of that company may be muliples of the MC.
Companies have been sent to the wall by manipulative market practices.
I am sure that DW would have some comments to make about false trading. And the affect it has on the success of PNV as a business.
Hard to promote a viable company whose share price is in free fall. Even when the fall is clearly engineered.
