I respect your right to an opinion. It seems you care about people. You can use words to argue. That's a good skill. Basing arguments on fact is important which you have not done.
It's abundantly clear the vaccines have worked. More of them in the form of boosters and higher uptake will work. Herd immunity works. Would be better to have everyone vaccinated.
It's incredibly disheartening to see this isn't clear to some. It's strange to ignore facts.
I feel sorry for those people and wish they would see reason. They have been brainwashed.
If it's about freedom then why aren't those people feeling like their freedoms are curtailed by having to wear seatbelts, having to drive on a particular side of the road, by having to adhere to aviation safety norms, other laws? To me the antivaccine and anti-lockdowns stance is inconsistent, cherry-picked, counter-productive, bizarre.. It appears satirical to the untrained eye. The headlines are like those on The Onion.
A year and a half ago we didn't know if there would be a vaccine. Now we have many. What an incredible achievement. We also have the freedom to choose to take it. Even if it's mandated, you can decide not to take it. Many have done so. They then demonstrate for their right not to take the vaccine which they largely haven't taken.
Instead of banging on about freedoms which ironically we have because of the vaccine and shutdowns, why can't we focus our attention on our ability to quickly, as a race, tackle difficult challenges?
We could be discussing directing efforts toward other diseases that have seemed imposible to overcome with renewed drive.
Has anyone close to you suffered?
How about we focus our attention on advocating for something that could bring positive change?
I'd like to work together, find common ground.
The common ground is that we all care about each other. How can we use our efforts constructively?
