This is such amazing news, everything I want to say has been shared with a much better analysis, but I’d like to share this personal story.

30 years ago today I was sitting in class at high school and a teacher came to the classroom, asked me to grab my stuff and come outside. My mates thought maybe I was getting suspended for setting off caps under chairs in chemistry lab.

When I got outside the teacher told me, “your mum has just been diagnosed with breast cancer, you need to go home.”
I can’t remember the bike ride home, but I remember rushing inside and all of my family just holding each other bawling in the hallway. For a teenager I thought it seemed like a death sentence to hear your mum has cancer. This was the 90’s, so I couldn’t jump online or Google it, so didn’t have a lot of info except what the doctor had provided. 30 rounds of radiation and she was cleared, thankfully found it early.

So many families have stories like this. Luckily for us everything went well, she survived although has had a couple of other cancer diagnosis over the years, but thinking of the women we knew had had cancer, and chemo that are now all in their 70’s, with possible heart damage knowing that Race can really impact people’s lives, quality of life, save families trauma for me are even more exciting than outsized returns for all of us shareholders.

Looking forward to the AGM, and for the word to spread about just how many lives our two “once in a lifetime discoveries” can impact.
