property purchases speculating not investing, page-22

BG, I guess for a range of reasons. Probably the most simple of them being "because you don't have a crystal ball". Or because the right opportunity came along at the right time.

If your stars have aligned and it is time to get in, it is time to get in. A FHB might need the grant to get a foot in the door. That's how I got in. It helped with a deposit. And owning that first one helped me get my second, no deposit down. And I'm guessing I'll do the same with the third when the time is right.

I plan on turning that FHBG in to a thriving property portfolio over the next 30 years :) Thank you Mr Howard.

One thing you must realise is the noise being made now re a property crash has been being made for years now. It may not actually come, or it may not be as big as expected.

Some people simply don't worry about such things. They will continually buy when they can and hold for life. Sometimes they will buy at the 'wrong time' in terms of short term capital growth, but if you can hold a house for ten years, there isn't a wrong time to have bought. There are just 'better' times to have bought. But, who has such a crystal ball? Some of the bears seem to. I wish I had one.
