Hi @cosair - you are correct. I don't have a lot of knowledge about Malaysia, but I do have knowledge about IOU and the Malay economy and with that I have confidence. The way you write it sounds like nobody should invest in anyone solely operating in Malaysia, but as far as I am aware there are plenty of successful Malaysian businesses. IOU has stated the other territories are back on the table, so hopefully in coming months we will see that roll out - or maybe it will wait until the new release of the APP next year. I still feel there is time for them to still be successful in these other countries and I am more than happy for them to get everything right in Malasia first before expanding, to avoid any costly errors and have all their processing correctly set up.
On another note, if anyone is still srcatching their head over the IDSB deal and what it could mean for IOU, have a read of the below. I have taken a snapshot from another forum. This was part of a reply from IOU to a question posed about the reasons for their wanting to purchase 42% of IDSB. There were other parts that we have already heard about, but have a close read of the below.
Besides cross selling, they are looking to develop "all-of-bank" relationship with IDSB clients. They also state that the tie in with IOU has with other banks within the Malaysian banking system, means they can look to those relationships and introduce them to IDSB.
This to me sounds like IOU will be actively working on increasing the IDSB loan book through contacts they have, that IDSB has not reached. This could add greatly to the loan book value and in turn add to their BNPL customer base.
