    Further to that last post - I think Wickerman's point is important. Of course nitrogen is in the air all around us but it is the process of isolating it from the air - cryogenic distillation - that costs money and therefore gives the gas an onsale value to recover the costs of production. ELK however has a source of nitrogen that must be isolated from the methane regardless of whether they want it or not. The fact that this excess gas will be 98/9% pure is the important point. If this purity is sufficient for onsale then it has value for ELK .
