Thanks phillip_k for that interesting post.
Personally, I don't care anymore that science has been hijacked and distorted as a tool to promote a false ideology, while the real science has yet to be convinced. Let the governments and big business introduce their schemes to suck trillions from us tax payers, and promote new financial instruments like futures for the financial industry to make money from those who like to speculate. It's inevitable. If it weren’t AGW it would be something else. If the world were cooling instead of warming, the same thing would still be happening. They would probably still blame it on CO2 as they did back around 40 years ago when the world was scared by some scientists and the media that a new ice age was coming. Let the game begin in earnest. I can't wait for the futures contracts on the Chicago Climate Change Exchange to gain enough liquidity so I can trade them to make some money. I might even live long enough to witness the eventual crash that will be as spectacular as those that resulted from the Tulip Mania and South Sea Bubble. Meanwhile, I may still enjoy the occasional debate here on HC to discuss the merits of the AGW thesis and an ETS, the latter of which will do nothing to alter the way our climate is changing, anymore than the Kyoto agreement did.
