It would certainly be material for both parties and Emerald states it as such.
”REQUEST FOR TRADING HALTEmerald Resources NL (ASX: EMR) (‘Emerald’) requests that a trading halt be placed on the Company's securities effective immediately pending the release of an announcement regarding a material acquisition.”
It’s implausible that Emerald would make this statement without informing the target which would be required to halt at the same time under continuous disclosure obligations.
