Growth is out, value is in. I think the market is responding more to inflationary expectations and the increasingly hawkish tones of Powell over monetary policy and the planned winding back the Fed bond purchasing program and the end of free money (rising interest rate expectations).

Also, the debt ceiling debacle in the USA just demonstrates how extremely partisan and counter-productive government is in the USA (and the UK); a feature of the AUKAUS countries that the Australian federal government seems desperate to for Australia to emulate.

My other big ASX listed copper play, CYM, is getting hammered today. The investor webinar just finished. Assays are getting held up in the labs. They are not even bothering to submit more assays until next year. WA government has advised that the time-line for the environmental approval has blown out to five months! Their consultants are pushing back deadlines because of shortage of qualified staff. The company can't fill a swath of on-site jobs currently being advertised.

For those with a long term positive outlook for commodities exposed to the electrification economic transformation, days like these on the market are a buying opportunity, but I'm now buying by drawing down cash reserves that I am not sure I want to see committed into the market beyond three to six months. I'm still hoping that a Santa rally kicks in mid month.
