This line about 'research' wears a bit thin over time.
What's to research?
The facts are that GGG was steadily progressing towards a ML in Greenland in accordance with their all the rules and regulations required of it under the last Coalition Government. The current Coalition Government ran a rabble rousing anti-Uranium campaign, not on any ethical grounds, but solely in a bid to gain power and they managed to scrape in. Without any scientific basis they have set a very low bar regarding Uranium contamination in mining projects which on the surface would appear to rule out GGG gaining a mining licence.
I guess you with your crystal ball thought all of this was inevitable and hence your messianic claims. I reiterate that the current Coaltion Government scapped in and that a few thousand votes the other way would have seen you quietly disappear from this forum.
I would also point out that hastily prepared legislation is usually full of exploitable holes which keep lawyers rich and employed.
If there is not a compromise then it may well be that GGG will end up in court with the Government of Greenland and it will be interesting to see if big mining money lines up behind GGG to overturn the new law which is clearly against their interests. It will also be interesting whether Denmark (which I suspect would be in favour of the mine) would allow money from its annual grant to Greenland to be used to run the Government's case as I don't think local Greenlanders would be lining up to contribute funds to the cause. Based on the voter turnout a large percentage are apolitical.
I think it will be an argument based on semantics to arrive at a court approved definition of 'mining." GGG wil no doubt argue that it is the extraction of targeted minerals which are mixed with other unwanted rocks and minerals i.e. Uranium. If GGG does not seek to exploit the Uranium content then is is really Uranium mining or are they just moving earth to get to their target?
If it gets to court a judge will decide and not the 'experts' on Hot Copper such as yourself.
