Car manufacturing won't be dominated by the old fossil car companies. They've got too much baggage in stranded assets, debts and ossified corporate culture. They haven't got a hope of competing. They are the zombie dead but they just don't know it yet. Their only hope is to eek out a few more years out of their old platforms while a significantly large group of people still haven't realized just how much better EVs are.
As for Musk, I think he is the most rational thinking person you could come across. His thinking is entirely logical and based on a very broad grasp of matters.
