    I find this whole thing shocking. I am new in the last year to hotcopper and and truly stunned by what I have witnessed. This is the history as I have seen it;
    1. The sudden appearance of negative posters. As iron ore prices were falling a group of negative posters suddenly appeared. These people posted energetically, were not holders, and very passionately posted negative opinions of FMG and iron ore in general. These posters loved to quote analysts and loved to tell us that analysts were saying we should sell our FMG shares.
    2. Analysts Downgrades. Analysts who were supposedly independent starting reducing their valuation of FMG shares. Despite these valuations supposedly reflecting the long term value of the shares the analysts reacted to the short term price movements. A sure sign these analysts either did not know what they were doing or were not independent. So analysts who had been saying "buy" at a high share price were now saying "sell" at a lower share price.
    3. The disappearance of the negative posters. As iron ore prices have now bounced the negative posters who turned up on hotcopper have mysteriously disapeared. They are not here any more. Why?

    If hotcopper were truly a forum of ordinary people just sharing opinions like it is supposed to be, the behaviours described above could not be explained. If the group of negative posters were truly just a disparate bunch of interested individuals, then why did they turn up when iron ore prices were falling? Why did they leave when iron ore prices started to rise? Why were they only continuously posting when the iron ore market and share price was vulnerable?

    If analysts are truly just a bunch of independent licenced people estimating the value of the company based on long term cashflow, why do their target prices move up and down so much as the short term prices of iron ore move? If analysts understand that iron ore is a commodity subject to long term price cycles why are short term iron ore prices affecting their valuations so much? Despite the huge focus from listed iron ore companies on the iron ore cost curve, why aren't analysts basing their price projections on the iron ore cost curve? Hence, why are analysts so often recommending to buy high and sell low for FMG shares?

    I am not a conspiracy theorist by nature. When confronted with the choice between a conspiracy and a stuff up I instinctively believe in the stuff up. However it is very hard to view the past few months without seeing a conspiracy against us ordinary investors to try and scare us to sell our shares at a low price.

    For those who were independent minded enough to buy FMG shares below $15, well done. Enjoy the gains.
