So the article says something along the lines of:
- The Fraud Squad was under resourced and needed to rely on outside help to complete investigations.
- Michael Gerondis, was on Sick Leave waiting for his Discharge from Police to be processed and was preparing for private self-employment.
- Michael Gerondis was discharged from Police in April 2005. His Company Fraud Risk management was then registered on 10 May 2005 https://abr.business.gov.au/ABN/View/66113274927
In conclusion, Michael Gerondis, in the process of being discharged from the Police, prepared for a new career in freelance Investigation.
That sounds like a lot of Public Servants that retire and enter the private freelance market.
That doesn't sound alarming or concerning. I think "Moonlighting" was a bit of a poor choice of terms. He just left the police force to pursue a private investigation career.
