the government has huge problems...they applaud the population growth...(think more voters) and promised new housing, but none so far, public transport cannot cope now... and where will all those people live....currently nearly 4000 per week permanent migrants, flooding into Sydney and Melbourne....that has been the go for the past couple of years... and 10,000 temporary migrants per week coming in to OZ where are they finding accommodation ???
for all the stories about unaffordable housing, put up by the various authors....very few choose to remark about the population growth, and its impact on housing, in fact most ignore the immigration dilema.....
and all the posters, who predicted a massive fall in prices, due to the reduction in the fhb grants, the GFC, read con job, the interest rate rises, and just because they believe prices are too high and must fall anyway... the mantra of the past 2-3 years... they may need to take off their dark glasses, and have a really good look around.... posters who live in outer suburbs are not included, as that is a different world , to the inner city housing situation...
unless immigration is directed to outer suburbs and regional areas, and a deterrent on them moving to the cities....which I dont believe is on the agenda....then, it will be the current residents, that are forced to move to those areas....if they want affordable housing.... in the meantime....if you wait for a price crash....it will be a very long wait....wait for the govt to build thousands of houses ??? good luck with that idea....
