It is difficult to tell whether you are being disingenuous or not.
They are both illegal activities. I was very clear about that in my post.
However, ASIC has limited resources. Would you like them to spend equal amounts of taxpayer dollars investigating these schemes if, for sake of argument, ‘pump and dump’ schemes are worth $100 million a year and ‘short and distort’ are worth $100k?
