President Moon’s visit suggests that the importance of stronger links with Australia and an enlarged strategic role in the region has outweighed the risk of incurring the wrath of South Korea’s largest trading partner.
The summit will also cover the renewal of the Australia-South Korea trade relationship in a world headed towards net zero carbon emissions. This follows the signing of a low emissions tech partnership between Australia and South Korea on the sidelines of last month’s Glasgow climate summit.
