I think you have things about face. The government provides a certain amount of money for each student’s education. The public school system supplements this amount of money. There is NO government subsidy in this scenario.
Your subsidy argument would only hold true if ALL schools were privately funded and the government chipped in some dollars.
You want all Australians to wear the same coloured suits, live in the same designed houses, drive to work in the same model car etc, etc.
