How would not mining for 6 months of the year help the protected area staying protected? Its still a mine site. Not sure just saying we will not mine for 6 months will help the area that much. If I was Sami, I would say you can mine the whole year or not at all. Why would you negotiate with a protected area. What would the Sami people really gain by allowing the mine. Area is protected or its not. Its like sitting on the fence.
