Actually, I disagree that hospitalisations are decr
easing. Maybe ICU and ventilators haven't caught up yet in NSW. Once people start to put a strain on the medical system, it doesn't matter what premiers
want. If they fail to act in public interest and safety (and alternative to what's happening globally), then they risk much more in the long term (like last time acting slowly which created a longer and larger problem).
I understand that economically they won't
want to impose restrictions again but the evidence is trending towards these measures coming again.

As people who deal in what charts are telling us, would you consider these were downtrends which now appear broken and therefore becoming upends?
500 hospitalisations in NSW would be my call of a change in policy. I think Vic is near their tipping point already.
Lag time between 7 and 14 days and omicron the most prevalent strain as per the article. Doubling about 1.5 - 2 days and evidence starting to show is as bad if not worse than Delta as per
@onetricky info. Breakthrough cases are increasing rapidly as the vaccine fails to be effective (I can only ponder that might only be occurring in overseas countries and we're different here).
Consider NSW new cases were only a few hundred a week ago and there's already 200 in hospitals with covid related disease. Cases in NSW getting up to 10K shortly. Those are pretty severe statistics. Lockdowns certain to follow..
We've been lied to on many occasions relating to this disease. Breaking another 'no lockdowns' promise is no biggie as 'this was unforeseen' is likely to be the reason.
Maybe stock up on essentials before Monday..
