How can anyone live their life like that, drawing conclusions from correlations? That is so ancient, like thinking a solar eclipse is the cause of a famine that happens afterwards.
Doctors dont spend 7 to 10 years studying medicine just so they can look at coincidences and draw long bow conclusions. As a layman, you have 2 choices, either trust that the medical fraternity are not morons, or at least look for your own evidence if you feel the need to create some alternative narrative.
Look for a bell curve of outcomes in the data, then filter out the outliers until you get a consistent pattern. Look for excess figures (taking into account variance margins, population changes and any other variables you can think of).
Put it together in a paper and ask your peers to review it and give their thoughts. It is the bare minimum that is expected of legitimate science, so your process should be no less vigorous.
If we each start proposing our own theories based on flimsy associations, imagine the chaos we would live in!
