Yep, hence why I said alarm bells if it's not delivered - reiterating the self-imposed deadline and then immediately missing it would be a worry. Mind you, publication at this time of year is also undesirable.
Anyway, hopefully the study is worth the wait and all this quibbling seems silly in hindsight.
