I don't profess to be an expert in technical analysis but one of the most fundamental aspect of looking at a sp is whether or not the price is trending.
At the moment the weekly chart of BLY shows it to be in an uptrend, whilst a daily chart shows it to be in a trading range, i.e. neither trending up or down.
There are two main types of indicators, trend following and momentum indicators. Trend following indicators such as Moving Averages, MACD and DMI may/will give false and misleading results when used with a sp that is not trending and in my opinion are of little value. Not to say though that in this instance they would not be of use in the weekly chart.
When considering any stock you have to take into consideration the time frame you are looking at. If you have a short term, daytrader time frame you should be looking at daily charts and intraday charts, possibly hourly or indeed less. Whereas someone with a medium to long term outlook would need to be using daily, weekly and even monthly charts and assign the best indicators for those particular periods depending on whether the price is trending or not. The fact that a price in trending in one time frame does not automatically mean that it is in the same condition in another time frame.
For a chartist to simply apply the same set of indicators in every instance is suicide and will result in false readings.
I think the guys doing the charts on this site do a great job but their charts should not be taken as gospel and we all know we should do our own research. Don't fall into the trap of using an indicator that give you the result you are looking for.
If I were to look purely at the chart with no indicators but price and volume at this time I would have to say that short term there is definite downward pressure but the price is still in a trading range. In the medium to longer term we are in an uptrend which has yet to be broken.
