    Changed since the 80’s really?

Well I found myself in the ACT in the early 90’s and looked around for work a found it in the Public Service. I was there for about four years and it’s the only time I’ve not been in the private sector and what went on was worse than I imagined.

This was the time when we were in recession and people were losing jobs hand over fist. They were oblivious to it in Canberra. You could do anything you wanted with your time sheets. People went for long lunches, came back pissed, took a motel room for a bit of how’s your father with a coworker, theft.

I ended up in a management position. The lower end of the pay scale staff were basically useless, they wouldn’t get a job in the private sector.

    Execs just played politics.

A lot spent their days applying for jobs.

There were times I literally had no work to do, not just for the day, but for a week. There were drunks employed who couldn’t be moved. You couldn’t touch them.

It was the worst environment imaginable. I don’t know of anyone who left to go to private enterprise, that was a mystery to them, they knew they wouldn’t measure up.

    it’s not possible it’s changed!
