Mate, I'm a vet and I know for a fact that animal medications do NOT go through the same vigorous approvals compared to human medications. A lot easier for animal meds to be approved.
The whole eating animal thing requires withholding time trials and that's it. Most meds are out of animal in 2-4 weeks, cheap as chips to do trials and prove withholding times.
