Everyone has different viewpoint on what is significant and what is not. For people who routinely throw around $100K at a time, getting 5% on a $5K outlay may not be worth the effort of getting out of bed. But someone for which a $5K outlay is significant might view a 5% return on $5K over a period of a couple of months as worth the effort. Even with the tax implications, if any.
There does seem to be a habit among a fair few posters here of assuming what works for their situation works for everyone.
