The problem with a govt of independents is you have no coherent policy platform, you have a bunch of nutters running around with their own little pet policies. If it's a hung parliament like the Gillard one then the independents just hold them to ransom for their little pet policy, if it's like some overseas examples where the whole govt is made up of independents then you just get nowhere fast ... take a look at some of the Euro nations run by many different independents/parties, they are fast going down the gurglar. Our system leaves a lot to be desired but it's still one of the best in the world no matter how much you despise that the govt doesn't run your preferred policy agenda(they don't run mine either fyi)
