Thanks Taurisk. I reckon you're right about Macron. Not the "brownie points", just that he'll win by default --- there is nobody credible on the opposition side. Predict a record low turnout for the 2nd leg of the vote though.

PS. I too was educated in Cambridge UK. Not the uni though, a private boys boarding school (ie.British "Public School") on the Fen Causeway overlooking the river Cam. You probably know it.
