The difficulty lies in the assumption of what really happened as opposed to what was written or what was believed to have been 'revealed.'
In other words, determining what actually happened is not really a matter of faith.

Determining what happen is not so much of a problem when you take the bible and all the historical facts and bouncing them off each other.

Getting to the crux of biblical understanding is not a matter of just reading a bible verse and bingo that’s what’s it saying, that methodology is only a protestant take born out from the reformation, that should be obvious to you by now, some sceptics fall into the same pit as protestants do

Catholics, Orthodox, eastern churches and even the CE, are very close to each other and only have minor difference, mainly concerning the papacy and the filioque

The posts or questions we post on here are very superficial, reflecting our limited understanding

If you get a good scholarship bible commentary, you’ll know exactly what I mean, I have the “New Jerome Bible Commentary” every verse is looked at not only in a theological way, but also in its historical context, along with it you also get a second book, which goes deeper and illustrates the documentations, one would take a whole life time of study to come a bit close to understanding it.

You can rest assured we are very close to know exactly what actually happened

Having said this I agree with you, we cannot know for certain as none of us were there, just like any historical writings, us, people like you and me we can read about say WWII it might give us a good idea, but still lacking the actual reality of it all, only the service personal can know exactly what happen, even if they wrote their memoirs, its still second hand, likewise the bible.

That's what Christ wanted, he never wrote anything, wanted the teaching to come out of the church, otherwise he would've dropped a bible from heaven

The message of Christ has been passed on through the 2000 years, there is no problem whatsoever, not only in scripture but in the traditions of the church

These mental gymnasium of twisting and warping scripture we do today is only due to the division that happened 500 years ago nothing more, nothing less

You know a good scholar would find what we post on here to be very childish to say the least.
