Looks like WPL is lining up to do "Blue" H2 with CCS, which is the SMR process as I understand.
One initiative I like WPL for is the H2 supply chain. They have experience with super chilled gases and Meg has noted this, although H2 is signifcantly colder. What if WPL were to team up with say a Rolls Royce to do SMR generated H2 - that would be really interesting.
Regardless of source, H2 looks to be potentially a fuel for the future, where direct generated electricity can't do the job e.g. blast furnaces and other reducing chemical processes currently burning coal, and large mobile machines where battery Wh/kg is not economic (trucks, ships etc.).
I think O&G is here to stay for a long, long time - even if only for petrochem feedstock.
