To get to the crux of the truth - whatever that is - takes more than just reading the bible. For that you need to look into the history and development of the books of the bible, surrounding cultures and their beliefs, how these influenced the Israelites, Greek thought and philosophy, etc.
That's exactly what I said, that's why most of our simple takes, say on the meaning of "Faith" can only be fully understood within its historical background
Even then, it's probably impossible to determine what happened. The 'victors' write their own narrative, believers describe what they believe happened
That’s correct, it might be different, on the other hand it might not.
If you are familiar with the way the CC done / does things, it doesn’t just plug verses out of thin air.
Example the doctrine of the Trinity it took 1000 years to be proclaimed
I think the issue is if one looks at history of the last 500 years, these types of seed were sown to bring divisions or score points. Before that, heresies mainly came out of different interpretations by individuals, not so much anything of historical origins
believers describe what they believe happened....what really happened may be something quite different.
Yeah, all believers are delusional right, this is nothing but a take to discredit believers to insert a different take.
You will find it that when something like a matter of faith was proclaimed by the early church, all the leaders, namely bishops were summoned, from all over the established churches, having different mindsets and cultures, would’ve been impossible for all to fall in the category of “believed happened”
